Great book. Loved it immensely. Learned so much . . . about how Odin came to only have one eye, how Thor got his hammer, Miolnir, how Loki came to be a part of the Aesir, etc. Fabulous stories told well.

It gives you a very interesting glimpse into Norse Mythology by providing a story, instead of several different accounts with different gods. This travels in a single line from the birth of the Tree of Life to the Ragnarok.

Great intro to Norse mythology! I grew up hearing the myths and having an introductory book on hand to brush up stories on is great!

Still the most enjoyable book of Norse mythology, even if it isn't 100% authentic. Who cares anyway, they're just stories, and I'm not trying to write a scholarly paper on the meaning of Thor's hammer.Arrived fast, great condition, I need to get a few more copies for nephews and nieces who always seem to get interested in mythology.

Bought this for my little one's library we are building for him. Mythology is so interesting and really gives us a glimpse into the lives of our ancestors. This book has many myths and they are not watered down. Very nice edition for the money.

About the Author
Michael E. McCormick is currently a Corbin A. McNeill Professor in the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at the US Naval Academy. He is a Fellow of the Marine Technology Society, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. In 1976, he became the co-editor of the journal Ocean Engineering and remained so for thirty years. Prior to that, he was the editor of the Marine Technology Society Journal. Professor McCormick was the first recipient of the US Naval Academy Alumni Award for Research Excellence and was also awarded the US Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award and the US Navy Superior Civilian Service Award. He is the author of Ocean Engineering Wave Mechanics and Ocean Wave Energy Conversion. Professor McCormick received a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Catholic University of America and a Ph.D. in civil engineering and a Sc.D. in engineering science from Trinity College, Dublin.
